[Guide] How to Increase Usable Storage

Introduction

This guide is made especially for Mi4c 16Gb variant users. 32Gb variant users can also use this guide but might not have the additional usable storage.

Some units might have been shipped with altered partition sizes, thus having approximately 10Gb+ of usable storage on  their phone.This guide is created to increase usable storage on their units.

Users with 12Gb+ of usable storage space might not see any difference at all.


Requirements

  1. Battery charge atleast 50%
  2. Your phone (Mi4c)
  3. UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER
  4. TWRP recovery installed

Instructions

  1. Shutdown your phone
  2. Reboot to TWRP recovery by pressing Power + Volume up until Mi Logo appears, then release those buttons
  3. Once in TWRP recovery follow the steps below
    • Select Wipe
    • Select Advanced Wipe
    • Check only the Data partition
    • Select Repair or Change File System
    • Select Resize File System
    • Swipe the slider to resize
    • Go back to Advance Wipe menu > Main Menu
    • [Optional] Skip this if you can’t resize system partition
      • Select Wipe
      • Select Advanced Wipe
      • Check only the System partition
      • Select Repair or Change File System
      • Select Resize File System
      • Swipe the slider to resize
      • Go back to Advance Wipe menu > Main Menu
    • Select Reboot
    • Select System
    • Congratulations! You have now approximately 11~12Gb+ of usable space on your 16Gb Mi4c. 32Gb variants will have different usable storage size.
