[Guide] How to Install Official China ROMs

WARNING

Always create backup or copy of your files in another storage or pc/laptop to prevent accidental data loss during the procedures posted here.

This guide is provided as is with no warranty or whatsoever. The author is not to be held liable for any damage that might occur to your unit. Follow at your own risk.

This method will lock your bootloader. If you don’t know what a bootloader means and how locked bootlader will affect your device, read here: Blog Link

Please wipe user data in Recovery mode if you want to update to a discontinuous ROM version, or downgrade to an older ROM version using MIUI full ROM pack.


Requirements

  • Your smartphone (Mi4c)
  • WiFi/Cellular data to download the ROM file and File Explorer app
  • Battery charged atleast 50%
  • ROM Package

Instructions

Method 1 [via System Updater]

  1. Download the MIUI ROM file from the link above
  2. Place the ROM file on the root of your internal storage for faster browsing
  3. Download any “File Explorer” app on Play Store
    1. Recommended download: File Explore on Playstore
  4. Go to Settings > About Phone > System Updates > on the top right menu, Choose update package > Locate the ROM file > tap OK
  5. After following the steps above, your device will automatically reboot and begin upgrading
  6. Your device will automatically boot and enter in setup wizard once the upgrade is finished
  7. Just complete the wizard and you are set.
  8. Congratulations! Your device is now running on Official China ROM.

Method 2 [via Mi Recovery]

  1. Download the MIUI ROM file from the link above
  2. Place the ROM file on the root of your internal storage
  3. Rename the ROM file to “update.zip” without the quotes
  4. Go to Settings > About Phone > System Updates > on the top right menu, Reboot to recovery mode > Reboot now
  5. Once in recovery mode follow these steps
  6. Navigate using the volume buttons, power button to select
  7. Choose Wipe & Reset
    1. Choose Wipe Cache
    2. Choose Wipe User Data
    3. Go Back to main menu
  8. Install update.zip to System
  9. Choose Yes to install the update
  10. Once the progress bar reaches 100%, Go back
  11. Choose Power Off
  12. When you Power ON your phone, wait for a few minutes for the first boot
  13. After booting, the setup wizard will show.
  14. Just complete the wizard and you are set.
  15. Congratulations! Your device is now running on Official China ROM.
