[Guide] How to Root your Phone

Method 1 [via TWRP custom recovery]

Requirements

  1. Battery charge atleast 50%
  2. Your phone (Mi4c)
  3. UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER
  4. SuperSU.zip: MEGA Link
  5. TWRP recovery installed
    • TWRP v3.0.2 recommended for MIUI 8 LP & Custom ROM users
    • TWRP v3.0.3 recommended for MIUI 8 Nougat & Resurrection Remix 5.8.2+ users

Instructions

  1. Move/copy the SuperSU zip file in the root of your internal storage
  2. Shutdown your phone
  3. Reboot to recovery by pressing Power + Volume up until Mi Logo appears, then release those buttons
  4. Once in TWRP recovery follow the steps below
  5. Choose Install > then locate the SuperSU zip file > Swipe slider to flash >  Wipe cache/dalvik > Swipe to wipe > Reboot system
  6. Congratulations! Your phone is now rooted!

Method 2 [via Kingroot]

Requirements

  1. Battery charge atleast 50%
  2. Your phone (Mi4c)
  3. UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER
  4. Stable and fast internet connection (WiFi preferred)
  5. Kingroot app: Site Link

Instructions

  1. Download and install the Kingroot apk for android
  2. Enable Developer Options & USB Debugging gon your phone, by the following steps:
    • Go to Settings > About Phone > tap MIUI version multiple times until “You are now a developer” message apears
    • Go back, then go to Additional Settings > Developer Options
      1. Enable Developer Options
      2. Enable USB debugging
  3. Open the Kinroot app
  4. Tap Try to Root
  5. Wait for it to finish
    • If rooting fails, just go close the app and go back to step 4 until rooting is successful
    • If successful, it will show a success screen
  6. Congratulations! Your phone is now rooted!
    • Kingroot might install additional app like Purify as system app.

Notes

It is advisable to install a custom recovery after rooting your phone, as rooted apps might break some system functions resulting in bootloop or softbrick. It is easier to fix this by installing TWRP recovery. Guide how to install TWRP is here.

    • Guides posted here are specially made for Flare S4+,S4 and 4 devices.
      They might or might not work for other devices.
      In your case, especially if you are running Android Marshmallow, Kingroot does not fully support that Android version as of now.
